2. What Ascuta does

Ascuta records speech, transcribes it, and inserts the result into text fields across Android apps. It can also copy the result to the clipboard when insertion is unavailable.

3. Local mode

When you choose an on-device engine, audio is processed locally. Audio does not leave your phone for transcription. Models may be downloaded from their listed hosting services; those services may process technical request data under their own policies.

4. Cloud mode

When you choose cloud transcription or cloud cleanup, audio or transcript text is sent directly from your device to the provider configured by you, such as an OpenAI-compatible API. Ascuta does not operate a relay server. The selected provider may retain or otherwise process requests under its own terms and privacy policy.

5. API keys

Cloud API keys are stored locally in the app's private storage and used to authenticate requests made from your device. Ascuta does not receive or store those keys on a server. Do not share an API key when asking for support.

6. Purchases

Ascuta offers an optional one-time “Lifetime Pro” purchase. Payments are handled exclusively by Google Play; Ascuta never receives your payment details. The app stores only a local, encrypted flag indicating whether the purchase is active and checks it with Google Play on each start so reinstalls and refunds are reflected correctly. Google Play may process purchase data under its own privacy policy.

7. Accessibility Service

Ascuta uses Android Accessibility Service to identify the focused text field and insert dictated text after you interact with the bubble. It is not intended for browsing monitoring, analytics, background automation, or keylogging.

8. Information collection

Ascuta has no app account or hosted recording store. The project does not intentionally collect your dictated text, audio, screen content, or analytics. Android, model hosts, and third-party providers you choose may process technical or service data under their own policies.

9. Website data

This website does not operate advertising, profiling, account registration, a contact form, or non-essential cookies. Its hosting provider may process technical request data needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP address, time, requested URL, browser information, and security events. To display prices in your local currency, the pricing page may ask the geolocation service api.country.is for an approximate country, which receives your IP address to answer; the site stores no identifier from this lookup. If the lookup is unavailable, prices fall back to US dollars.

10. Local files and deletion

Downloaded models, preferences, API keys, and other app data remain in the app's local storage until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Cloud providers may retain requests according to their own terms.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact the controller above. You may also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).

12. Changes

This policy may be updated when the application, website, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version is published on this page with its effective date.
